Memorial day is just around the corner, signaling the beginning of beach season. Surf and sun are the perfect excuse to let loose and embrace costal style. So, from morning sunning to evening outings, we’ve go you covered with elegant, uncomplicated styles that take five minutes or less to do. Whether you’re spending a weekend in the Hamptons or a week in Bali, these simple styles will keep you looking naturally chic. Learn how to create these 5 looks, with products that will protect your mane from sun and salt water, in the style notes. –– Laura Martin

Beach Waves: This style is easy to achieve, even if your hair is naturally straight. Begin by misting hair with hydro mist which will activate your existing curl pattern and protective thickening lotion which blocks the sun’s harmful rays. Part hair in four sections, from forehead to nape and ear to ear, and twist each into large coil. Allow to dry naturally, re-twisting as needed, then shake out with your fingers.

Headband Braid: Keep strands out of your face and add a boho feeling with this quick style. Begin by sectioning a small strip of hair from the right temple. Divide the section into thirds and braid loosely, holding hair across the top of the forehead at the hairline, adding hair to the back side of the plait. Continue braiding to opposite temple, then pin ends just above the ear, allowing hair from the top to cover the edge of the braid.

Flirty Pony: Look fun and pretty with a romantic ponytail. Begin by spraying hair liberally with refinish dry shampoo. Shake roots with fingers to create tousled texture, then gather hair loosely at the back of the head. Secure with a cloth hair band or a colorful bow. Mist ponytail with protective thickening lotion and wrap random sections around a styling wand for loose curl and movement.

Wavy Side Braid: If your hair is getting wild after a day at the beach, try this loose twine to get it under control. Run a quarter-size of hair creme through strands, applying to ends first, then working residue throughout. Take three small sections from one side of the front hairline and begin braiding, working across the back of the head adding hair on both sides until all strands are incorporated. Plait down to the ends and secure with a small cloth band or bow. Use fingers to loosen the entire length of the braid and add a few pumps of primp working spray for hold.

Rope Bun: At night, try this simple but elegant evening updo. Before getting ready, wash the salt and sand from your hair with sulfate-free gentle shampoo. Apply whipped treatment through mid-lengths and ends and allow to penetrate for five minutes. Rinse well, towel-dry thoroughly, and apply a quarter-size amount of frizz control throughout strands. Pull into a high ponytail, and secure with a cloth hair band. Separate pony into two sections. Twist both sections to the right, then wrap the right strand over the left, alternately twist and crossing until ends are reached. Secure with another band, then wrap the rope braid into a bun and secure with bobby pins. Add a few pumps of shine spray for a glossy finish.
